The Pig Trail

Headed up the Pig Trail today but had to turn around 17 miles north of I-40.  Had some excellent BBQ at Rivertowne BBQ in Ozark.

It's Alive!!

The car started on the second crank and it sounds great!  I did drive it a few miles, but there a just a few minor bugs to work out before I can take it home.

My engine is back!  I hope we can start work on it today!

Rack and Pinion

The new rack and pinion is in and the engine should be here in 2 days!!

Wheel Wells

While the car is on the lift (waiting on the engine which should be here next week!) I decided to clean up my wheel wells.

Engine Bay Cleanup

Doing some cleanup in preparation for the new engine.

Engine Out!

The engine is completely out and ready to ship to Jasper Engines for a rebuild.  Should have it back in 4 weeks.  While it's out I plan to clean everything that we took off, install a new rack and pinion, and other front end parts.

Engine Removal

Removed the engine today.  Will take it apart tomorrow and send it off to Jasper Engines for the rebuild.

Time to Pay

The time sitting did take its toll, however.  The car has no power and pops upon acceleration.  Some valve problem I suppose.  I spent about $2,000 trying to fix this before I gave up and decided to drive it till it quit.  Last summer (2014) when I got it out it started leaking oil really bad.  I thought it was finished and did not drive it it all.  I decided to have the engine rebuilt and just recently took it to the shop.  It turns out that the oil leak was just a bad oil sending unit so I actually could have driven it last year and maybe this year too, but I guess it's time for the new engine.  This one currently has a little over 183,000 on it.  They are supposed to start taking the engine out today. !!
